Newly Built Executive Ranch Home Three Blocks From the University of Notre Dame
Posted By: admin on 2/24/2010

This single-family home was built in 2007 by Century Builders for a Notre Dame VP to the highest-quality standards and using the best materials available.

Located on a full half-acre corner lot, the home was situated to take maximum advantage of available sunlight, and is only three blocks from Notre Dame’s Bulla Street entrance, and a very short walk to ND Stadium, the Joyce Center, the Main Campus, and the Warren Golf Course. Walk to Martin’s grocery or any of the many restaurants in the area. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, populated by long-time residents of the area. The home provides all of the modern conveniences and benefits of new construction. The neighborhood is uniquely situated in St. Joseph County, for easy access to both downtown South Bend (museums, restaurants, shopping, theaters) and Grape Road (commercial shopping, dining and services), but without city taxes.

Mentor/Tutors Needed for Homeless Education Program
Posted By: admin on 2/2/2010

A special opportunity is ready for those interested in mentoring and tutoring homeless Chicago Public School students. The Homeless Education Program seeks to provide comprehensive support to the more than 10,000 homeless youth involved in the program. The director believes that many of these youth, whose family life has been disrupted due to foreclosure, parent unemployment, etc., would benefit from having a responsible and caring adult in their lives who can offer guidance and encouragement. Chicago area residents who are at least 16-years-old are needed to volunteer as tutor-mentors since many of these kids need emotional and educational support.

If interested in volunteering, complete the brief volunteer application by CLICKING HERE or contact Russ Hopkins at helpchicagokids@gmail.com to get the process started. You can also apply to mentor a child through other well-known programs (Mercy Home, Uhlich Children's Advantage Network, etc.) at this site.

Help a ND grad with a funding proposal
Posted By: admin on 9/3/2009

Thomas Thornton, Stellenbosch University Research and Funding Proposal

Introduction
This research internship at Stellenbosch University in Stellenbosch, South Africa is the fourth in a yearly series of independent research projects. I design these projects to continue my education in anthropology and prepare for a Ph.D. program while furthering a career in professional baseball. The Stellenbosch research project was crafted to unpack fundamentals, ideas and concepts pertaining the anthropology of religion. The project originated from a fascination with religion, specifically, its institutionalization and how that affects identity. Both the personal and anthropological motivation for the project derives from the preconception that a basic understanding of most cultures and people is incomplete without knowledge of their religion and its cultural role.

Avoid expensive hotel rooms for ND football games
Posted By: jordancurnes@gmail.com on 7/31/2009
As football lottery results have been released, I wanted to reach out to you with a new idea for South Bend lodging accommodations. As three Chicago based 2001 Notre Dame graduates, my partners and I were frustrated by both the expensive rates of South Bend hotels and their limited capacity. So, we decided there had to be a better way to enjoy a Notre Dame Football weekend than to pay $400 or more a night for a two-person hotel room with a 3-night minimum stay! Although Notre Dame Football is our passion, we knew there had to be a better way to enjoy gameday weekends. With plenty of nice homes just a few blocks away from the Notre Dame campus, we thought the owners might be willing to rent their homes to respectable Notre Dame alumni for reasonable rates during home football games. This hunch proved to be correct as our company is currently listing professor’s homes, alumni homes, and even the former home of Knute Rockne! Over the past 5 years, the number of homes available to rent for Notre Dame football games has grown to over 20 houses per game. Through our company's website, we have had over 200 successful rentals in the past few seasons with satisfied renters and owners alike. Our website is: http://www.RentLikeAChampion.com/ Since some of our houses can accommodate over 10 people, the are great for groups or families to stay in and keep the entire group together. Allowing the group of alumni to host BBQs on Friday nights and brunches on Sundays. The prices can run under $200 a person for the weekend--far more reasonable than any hotel, and with a much better quality of stay. As fellow Notre Dame alumni, we want to make the South Bend football weekend experience better for everyone. That’s why we started the website. At www.RentLikeAChampion.com we still have many homes available for every game including USC and BC. We even offer homes for rent for Junior Parents' Weekend (February 19-21, 2010) and Commencement (May 14-16, 2010). Please feel free to forward this information to others that are looking for housing. You can also contact us at 1-877-4HORSEMEN. Thanks and Go Irish! Sincerely, Jordan Curnes, Notre Dame Class of 2001 www.RentLikeAChampion.com 1-877-4HORSEMEN

Hi, I'm a member of the Class of 2005, and I'm working with the partners of Lake Chapin Shores to get the word out to ND Alums about their incredible development. Visit www.lakechapinshores.com to see the high-end lake homes located just 20 minutes North of Notre Dame campus, and under two hours from Chicago. These homes are located on Lake Chapin, the largest all-sport lake in SW Michigan! You have to visit to envision a weekend getaway: Friday night around the fire pit, Saturday watch Notre Dame win, and Sunday enjoy a relaxing day on the water! Tell them Kevin sent you and receive $10,000 off the price of a new pier/boat-dock. www.lakechapinshores.com
